2020 Summer Camps and Trips

Morrow Church is committed to providing opportunities for children and youth to experience God’s love and share with others. We believe that time with caring adults and older teens who live out their faith in service to others and the world is powerful for children. We also believe in empowering kids to use their gifts to make a difference in the world. Our camps and trips are created to make these opportunities possible.

Virtual Vacation Bible Camp – August 17 – 20

It’s Summer!!!!!!  Registration is Open. Time for lots of play and fun! I hope everyone enjoys this time of warm weather, long days and yummy fruit treats!

Some of us have camps and other activities we are excited to enjoy, but there are also many plans that have been changed. We love seeing everyone here at Morrow Church for Vacation Bible School during the summer. This year, we are doing it differently in order to stay safe and healthy.

Rainstorms to Rainbows Sometimes in our lives things are stormy. Like now when a virus is around us. Sometimes things are stormy for people because they aren’t treated fairly. Things were stormy a long time ago like for a man named Noah. But God stayed with Noah and helped him stay safe, like God does with us. And, after storms, come bright skies and rainbows. We are going to splash through the storms and celebrate the rainbows this summer.

This year we will be getting into groups virtually — using zoom on our computers, phones or tablets. We will still gather with our fun group leaders and we will still “travel” to different activity centers together. However, we will be doing that in our own homes. We want to make sure everyone has all the supplies they need for all our activities, so please sign up via our website so we can get supplies to you ahead of VBS on August 17 – 21, beginning 9am each day.

There are also many other Vacation Bible School programs available online to do with your family or friends at your home when it is most convenient for you. I am including links here to virtual VBS and other camp resources.

Knights of North Castle VBS— you can use the online videos anytime

CommUNITY Allies(the material is available July 6, but you can also be a part of Edmunds UMC’ VBS July 17- 21) Very nice anti-racism VBS

Little Bugs Big Impact– from the N. Alabama Conference of the UMC July 13-17

Rocky Railway VBS– from the folks down the road at New Dover UMC; register by July 1 and you can access the activities anytime after July 17

In addition, Morrow Church has contracted with Amplify Media, a provider of video studies and resources for individuals and small groups as well as children’s materials including the Deep Blue materials we use for Sunday School. Please use them as much as you want! You can even make groups with friends or family and share your screen via ZOOM to watch together.

Appalachian Service Project – July 18 – 25

High School students (including rising freshman) spend a week in Kentucky, supporting the largest social service provider in Appalachia. We will form teams to repair homes so that they are warmer, safer, and drier.

Peace and Justice Camp – August 3 – 7

Rising 1 – 5th graders spend a week learning games that focus on cooperation; stories of justice heroes; and peace-making for both our own hearts and community. We’ll discover together through collaborative art, drumming, yoga, game design, story-telling and lots of other ways of growing. 9am-3pm. $200 donation.
