GreenFaith at Morrow

"Teach your children what we have taught our children, the earth is our mother. This we know. The earth does not belong to humans, humans belong to the earth. All things are connected like the blood that unites one family. Whatever befalls the earth befalls the children of the earth. People did not weave the web of life; they are merely a strand of it. Whatever they do to the web, they do to themselves."Attributed to Native American Chief Sealth (Seattle), 1854

Welcome to the Morrow GreenFaith page.  Our success in becoming a GreenFaith certified congregation depends on all of you. Please return often to find out what's happening and read the Morrow GreenFaith mission statement.

What is Green Faith?
The GreenFaith Certification Program is turning houses of worship into environmental leaders.

Protect Creation: From eco-themed worship services, to 'greening' of the building, congregations are making significant changes.

+ Save Money: Action steps are designed to be no-cost, and often lead to big savings.

+ Foster Relationships: Interfaith and intergenerational.

+ Learn Together: Resources, webinars, and a virtual community space.

Eco-Reflection: Jesus Christ Redeems All Creation
After teaching that God is the universe’s Creator, Christianity proclaims Jesus Christ as Savior and Redeemer. In regards to the environment, this begs a key question. What does Christianity teach about the relationship between Jesus and the earth? Is his saving power limited only to human beings? Or does it extend wider to embrace all of Creation?

The Biblical witness is clear.  Yes – Jesus is our Redeemer, the one who makes us whole.  And, Jesus’ salvation is bigger than that, because it encompasses all the earth and beyond.  John 3:16 – one of the most famous New Testament passages – makes it clear.

Get Involved

Our GreenFaith tuition is $1,000. There also will be some expense in carrying out our initiatives. There's nothing in the 2011 budget for GreenFaith, so your special contributions will be welcome. Just mark GreenFaith on your check. Of course, we expect to SAVE money for Morrow programs by carrying out some great ideas for improving our stewardship of God's creation! If you are interested in getting involved with the GreenFaith Team, join us at one of the events listed on this page or contact a team member.
